Can GRO take over our existing Google Ads account?
Yes. An existing account usually contains useful information about demand, previous tests and conversion history. The starting point is an access and account review, followed by a discussion of what the business wants to keep, change or understand. We do not assume that a new structure will solve every problem. Sometimes the priority is a misleading conversion goal or an offer that has changed since the campaigns were written.
A handover should establish who owns the account, who pays Google and which other tools feed it. We also check access to adverts, creative files, website tags and product feeds where relevant. If another supplier is involved, a clear transition helps prevent overlapping changes or interrupted reporting. You keep the account and its history under your control throughout the relationship.
We separate urgent corrections from longer term experiments. An advert promoting an unavailable service needs prompt attention. A campaign with uncertain profitability may need more investigation, particularly when sales close well after the original enquiry. Proposed changes are explained using the evidence available, including any uncertainty caused by incomplete sales records.
The outcome is a prioritised management brief rather than a blanket rebuild. It identifies what remains, what changes and how success will be judged. Existing campaigns can continue where appropriate while the agreed improvements are introduced. Any larger rebuild, tracking repair or landing page project is described in the scope so the handover creates a shared understanding of responsibility.
How much should we invest in Google Ads management and media?
The right investment depends on the market you are entering, the value of a suitable customer and the evidence needed to make a decision. GRO scopes management separately from advertising spend and any supporting work. We do not apply an old published price to a new brief or suggest a universal budget that ignores your service area, competition and sales process.
A useful discussion starts with your customer economics. We ask what a typical project contributes after delivery costs, how often a qualified enquiry becomes a customer and how long that process takes. If those figures are uncertain, we record the assumptions rather than presenting them as established facts. They help define a test the business can afford to learn from.
Breadth has a cost as well. Dividing a limited budget between many services, locations and campaign types can leave each area with too little evidence to evaluate. We may recommend concentrating on one commercial priority first. For product businesses, stock availability, returns and differing margins can influence which catalogue segments deserve attention before wider expansion.
The proposal sets out the chosen activity, management responsibilities and any creative or technical dependencies. We also agree who can authorise spending changes and when the commercial case will be reviewed. A larger budget is appropriate only when there is a reason to expect additional useful demand and the business has the capacity to serve it.
Should we use Search, Performance Max, Shopping or Demand Gen?
The choice starts with how customers discover and buy your offer. Search can address explicit queries from people investigating a need. Shopping is relevant when a product catalogue and online purchasing journey are central to the sale. Visual campaigns may help explain an unfamiliar offer or reach people before they search. Each format needs a distinct role in the overall acquisition plan.
Google describes Performance Max as a goal based campaign type that can access its advertising inventory through one campaign. That reach makes the quality of your goals, assets and commercial brief particularly important. We assess it alongside existing Search activity, the visibility needed for management and the evidence available to evaluate the result. It is a considered option, not a required upgrade.
Demand Gen supports visually led advertising across Google's available surfaces. The practical questions are whether the business has useful images or video, a persuasive offer and an appropriate next step. A technical service with no explanatory material may need creative preparation before this approach is worthwhile. Current format availability and account settings are checked when the campaign is scoped.
Several campaign types can work together, but adding them introduces more decisions about budget, overlap and measurement. We would rather give each selected format a clear job and review its contribution against that job. Your proposal explains the recommended starting mix, the assets it needs and what evidence would justify introducing another format later.
Can campaigns optimise for customers when we have few sales?
Customer outcomes remain the commercial aim, but the event used to guide a campaign must be dependable and sufficiently informative. If a business closes occasional large projects, completed sales may arrive too slowly to support the intended bidding approach. We assess the actual account and sales cycle before choosing a signal. A deeper event is not automatically a better starting point.
An intermediate milestone can help when it represents meaningful progress and is recorded consistently. For example, an accepted enquiry or completed consultation may be useful if the business applies a clear definition. A booked appointment that often goes unattended could be less informative. We compare the milestone with later outcomes to understand what it tells us about customer likelihood.
Before changing bidding goals, we examine the tracking route, event timing and duplicate records. An apparent lack of sales might be a reporting problem rather than a demand problem. Similarly, an apparently successful milestone might include unsuitable or repeated submissions. Reliable definitions and ownership of data entry are essential, even when the business starts with a simple reporting process.
GRO can use the strongest available evidence while planning a more complete connection to sales outcomes. Offline import implementation and value based bidding require their own technical and commercial checks. There is no promised date for reaching a particular optimisation stage. Progress depends on the quality, frequency and maturity of the information your business can genuinely provide.
Why do our Google Ads reports disagree with our sales figures?
Advertising platforms and sales systems often answer different questions. Google Ads may attribute an action to an earlier advertising interaction, while your sales report records when a deal was created, won or paid. Differences in date basis and attribution settings can therefore produce different totals without either system being broken. The first step is agreeing exactly what the comparison should represent.
Other differences need investigation. Repeated form submissions may appear as several actions while the sales team sees one prospect. A caller might use another device, decline tracking or contact the business through an unconnected route. Sales records may lack a source, contain an outdated stage or have a value entered inconsistently. We inspect these possibilities before drawing conclusions about campaign profitability.
We also allow for the sales cycle. Comparing this month's advertising spend with this month's won deals can mix newly acquired prospects with customers who first enquired much earlier. Where records support it, grouping enquiries by acquisition period gives a more useful view of their eventual progression. Recent groups are marked as incomplete while opportunities are still being worked.
The aim is a report that explains its boundaries. We define the customer count, revenue basis and included costs, reconcile significant discrepancies and identify what remains unmeasured. Attribution is evidence for a decision rather than proof that every recorded sale was caused solely by advertising. That distinction helps you evaluate campaigns without overstating certainty or dismissing useful information.
What does Google Ads include?
Buy attention where a purchase can begin
Search advertising lets you respond to the language people use when they need a product, a supplier or an answer. The commercial challenge is deciding which searches deserve your budget. A specialist repair company may want urgent service requests while receiving enquiries about spare parts, training and jobs. Those searches can look relevant in a keyword list and still be wrong for the business.
GRO starts with the work you want to win, your delivery area, margins and capacity. We use that information to shape campaign structure, advert wording and exclusions. A narrower campaign can be the right starting point when a business needs a particular type of customer. Expanding coverage becomes a considered decision based on what the account and sales team are learning.
Our connected approach gives campaign decisions useful context. If callers repeatedly misunderstand the service, we examine the advert and destination page. If suitable enquiries fail to receive a response, we identify the sales handover problem. The benefit is a clearer diagnosis of where the investment needs attention, with an agreed action for the person responsible.
Campaign management with a defined commercial brief
The service can include account review, keyword and audience research, campaign planning, advert copy, asset coordination, launch checks and ongoing optimisation. Search, Shopping, Performance Max and Demand Gen are considered according to your offer and available assets. We define the campaign mix in the proposal rather than filling every available channel. Product advertising also needs an accurate catalogue and a working purchasing journey.
For an existing account, we examine campaign history, search terms, location settings, budgets and conversion goals. We look for duplicated measurement, irrelevant demand and campaigns serving different purposes under one reporting total. Existing work is retained where it remains useful. Any proposed restructuring has a reason, an expected benefit and a way to assess whether the change helped.
Landing page recommendations, creative production and tracking implementation are scoped explicitly. Campaign management includes agreeing what success means and checking whether the account can report it. Building a new website or implementing sales outcome imports can be separate work. You receive a clear division of responsibilities, including who approves offers, supplies product information and keeps sales records current.
How does Google Ads work in practice?
Make the offer, search and next step agree
We establish a starting picture using your account, website and sales information. That includes the enquiries you welcome, the enquiries you reject and the reasons customers choose you. We translate those distinctions into groups of search intent. Someone comparing maintenance contracts needs a different message from someone looking for an emergency visit, even when both searches mention the same equipment.
Before launch, we check the Engage stage: does the destination explain the offer, answer obvious buying questions and make contact straightforward? We test the enquiry route and confirm who receives it. Paying for more visitors while a form is broken or a key service limitation is hidden creates avoidable waste. The campaign and landing page should make the same promise.
Optimisation then follows a documented sequence of questions. Are we reaching the intended searches? Are visitors taking the right action? Are enquiries progressing? We review exclusions, messaging and spend with those questions in mind. Changes are paced around the evidence available, so several simultaneous alterations do not obscure what caused an improvement or a decline.
Hypothetical example: separating repairs from replacement demand
Consider a hypothetical commercial door installer that wants planned replacement projects. Its existing campaign attracts people looking for domestic locks, replacement handles and immediate repairs. Some enquiries are genuine, but they require work the company does not offer. The sales team spends time redirecting callers while the advertising report treats their form submissions as successful conversions.
GRO would first confirm the company's suitable building types, service area and project requirements. The campaign could then distinguish replacement intent from maintenance enquiries, with advert language that identifies the commercial service. A dedicated page would explain site surveys, access requirements and the information needed to assess a project. Relevant exclusions would address the unrelated searches visible in the account.
The next step would be consistent sales feedback. A rejected enquiry could carry a reason such as domestic property or unsupported repair. A suitable project would progress to a survey stage. We would compare those outcomes alongside advertising cost, allowing the business to judge whether the revised campaign is producing more useful work. This illustrates a decision process, not a forecast or client result.
How do we decide whether Google Ads is right for us?
Read performance through the sales process
Clicks, impressions and cost per click explain delivery. Enquiries and their acquisition cost explain the first response. We then examine qualification, meetings, quotations and customers where those records exist. Each level answers a different question. A campaign can attract fewer enquiries and still become more valuable if the sales team receives a stronger proportion of suitable projects.
Google distinguishes primary conversion actions used for bidding within selected standard goals from secondary actions used for observation. Custom goals are an exception that also needs checking. We review the actual configuration, including what each campaign is optimising towards. A page visit, submitted form and completed sale should not be treated as interchangeable evidence of business value.
Revenue reporting depends on identifiers, permissions, consistent records and enough time for sales to close. We make missing data and attribution limits visible. Recent enquiries are compared with appropriately mature groups, and platform reporting is reconciled with business records where possible. Implementing offline conversion imports belongs to a separately defined measurement scope, while campaign management uses the reliable signals currently available.
Choose a scope your market and budget can support
This service suits businesses with a clear offer, identifiable demand and the ability to handle the enquiries they seek. Before recommending spend, we discuss the value of a customer, the sales cycle and how much testing the business can sustain. A tightly defined service or product group may provide a better starting point than an account covering the entire business.
You retain ownership of advertising accounts and campaign history. We agree access to Google Ads, relevant analytics, website tools and any connected customer relationship management system, or CRM. Merchant Center access may be needed for product campaigns. Licences, media spend, management and additional production are identified in the proposal, with no assumed entitlement to features or integrations.
You can commission Google Ads management on its own. GRO will still explain any dependency that affects its prospects, such as unclear website copy or delayed sales responses. That gives you a practical choice about what to fix internally and what to commission separately. Investment follows the work required and the opportunity available, with responsibilities established before launch.
