What we look after

Four kinds of client, one team behind them. Choose the one that fits and go straight to the detail.

  1. An SQR officer greets a visitor as she passes the turnstiles in an office lobby

    Corporate & Commercial Security

    Businesses, buildings and events

Security officers, front of house and concierge teams, mobile patrols, keyholding, and monitored CCTV and alarms, for offices, shops, sites, productions and events.

  2. A close protection officer holds the car door as his principal steps out

    Personal & Private Security

    You and your family

Close protection, executive drivers in our own Mercedes-Benz fleet, airport meet and greet, and a security plan that travels with you, at home or abroad.

  3. A London house at night, porch light on

    Residential Security

    Your home

Patrols, alarm response, keyholding, and alarms and CCTV fitted by SQR Technology. It starts with a free home visit to assess your needs.

  4. Trainees in SQR polo shirts practise on the mats with their instructor

    Security Training Courses

    Your career in security

The BTEC Level 3 close protection course, the refresher you need to renew a close protection licence, and First Aid at Work, at our Childs Hill training centre.

We also work in government and embassies, aviation, retail, industrial and commodities, culture and education, and entertainment. See All Services, including cyber security awareness, penetration testing and workshops, or visit SQR Technology for CCTV, alarms and access control.

One team, from the training room to the control room.

SQR keeps the parts of security that matter most under one roof. We train our officers, vet them before they start, watch over their sites from our own control room, and design the systems they rely on through our sister company, SQR Technology.

Every assignment starts with a security passport.

Before we take on any assignment, we assess the threats and risks with you. Then we write it down: the strategy, the procedures, and who does what. SQR calls that document your security passport.

For private clients the passport is built around your routines, plans and lifestyle, and it travels with you, from your home to your journeys and destinations in the UK or abroad. Our team works discreetly, so the protection fits around your life.

Questions we are often asked

Are SQR’s security officers SIA licensed?

Yes. Every SQR security officer holds the Security Industry Authority licence for the work they do, from guarding and CCTV monitoring to close protection, and is screened to BS 7858, the British Standard for vetting people who work in security.

BS 7858 screening checks a person’s identity, recent employment history, criminal record and right to work before they are deployed. Our officers then train regularly with SQR, in the same building where we run our close protection and first aid courses. If your site needs a particular licence or extra clearance, tell us at the consultation and we will plan the team around it.

Do you have your own control room?

Yes. SQR’s 24/7 Command and Control Centre is run in-house. Controllers watch client CCTV, alarms and access points, use video analytics to pick out the movement that matters, and coordinate our Quick Response Team when a site needs a person on the spot.

The control room can also hold keys for keyholding clients, and it works with systems you already have as well as those fitted by SQR Technology. Because it never closes, the number for a consultation is the number our controllers answer at night: 020 3031 6410.

How much does security cost in London?

It depends on how many officers you need, for how many hours, and what the site or the person faces, so SQR does not publish one price for security services.

The consultation is free instead: we assess the threats and risks with you, then quote for the team, the hours and any systems the plan needs. Homeowners get a free home visit before any quote. Training is the exception, because courses have fixed prices per person: the close protection course is £1,500, the close protection refresher £350 and First Aid at Work £145.

What is a security passport?

It is the written plan SQR prepares before any assignment starts. We assess the threats and risks first, then set out the security strategy and the procedures that follow from it, so everyone involved knows what happens and who does it.

For private clients the passport is built around your routines, plans and lifestyle, and it travels with you, covering your home, your journeys and your destinations in the UK or abroad. For businesses it covers the site, the people who use it, and how our officers, control room and systems work together.

Which areas do your residential patrols cover?

Our patrol list names 23 areas: Barnet, Camden, Chiswick, Ealing, Enfield, Hackney, Hammersmith and Fulham, Harrow, Hendon, Hounslow, Islington, Marylebone, Richmond, Southall, Tottenham, Twickenham, Uxbridge, Waltham Forest, Wembley, Westminster, Willesden, Wood Green and Woodside Park. Most are in north, west and central London, close to our head office in Childs Hill.

If your area is not on the list, ask us anyway and we will tell you straight what we can do for your home. Every residential client starts with a free home visit, so we can assess your needs before we quote for patrols, alarm response or keyholding.

How long is the close protection course, and what does it cost?

SQR’s close protection course runs for three weeks at our London head office and costs £1,500. It leads to the BTEC Level 3 Certificate in Close Protection and includes First Aid at Work.

The syllabus runs from terror threat awareness, conflict management and physical intervention to site surveys, operational and route planning, foot formations, embus and debus drills, surveillance and anti-surveillance, with live drills in the streets around the centre. The next start dates are listed in the training section above, and you can book a place online.

Do I need the refresher to renew my close protection licence?

Yes. The Security Industry Authority asks close protection operatives to complete refresher training before they renew their licence. SQR’s Level 2 Close Protection Refresher covers it over three days at our training centre: working as a door supervisor for close protection operatives, counter terrorism awareness, physical intervention in theory and practice, and searching.

It costs £350. Before you book, you need a Level 3 first aid qualification (FAW, FREC3 or FPOS) from a recognised awarding organisation and the Action Counters Terrorism for Security e-learning.

Do you work outside London?

Yes. Besides our head office and training centre in Childs Hill and our City office on Bishopsgate, SQR has offices in Manchester and Liverpool, and our sister company SQR Technology works from Meopham in Kent. We also give overseas security consultations to large companies, governments and private individuals.

In Germany, SQR Labyrinth GmbH, a cooperation between SQR Group and Labyrinth Security, works from Berlin. Tell us where you need cover when you book your consultation, and we will tell you which team would look after you.
