Changing 6 April 2027

Your pension is about to become part of your estate for Inheritance Tax.

For decades, pensions have been one of the most tax-efficient things you could leave behind. From April 2027, most unused pension funds will count towards your estate — and could face tax of up to 40%. If your pension is part of your legacy plan, now is the time to review it.

For illustration only, not advice. Assumes growth of 3% a year above inflation after charges, an annual withdrawal of 4% of your pot, and the full new State Pension (£241.30 a week in 2026/27) from age 67. Figures are in today’s money. Your actual outcome will differ, and the value of investments can fall as well as rise.

Our story

Born on the Tyne. Trusted across the UK.

In 1996, Nigel Reeves started Reeves as a one-man operation in Newcastle, built on a simple belief: people deserve honest, expert advice about the money they’ve spent a lifetime building.

Thirty years on, more than 100 people at our National Advice Centre in Benton look after over 5,000 clients and more than £1bn of their savings. We’ve grown. That belief hasn’t changed.

Is the review really free?

Yes. Your review and our recommendations cost nothing, and there’s no obligation to go ahead. You only pay if you decide you’d like us to put a plan in place — and you’ll see every fee in writing before you commit.

How much does advice cost if I go ahead?

Our fees depend on the advice you need and the size of your funds, and we’ll always agree them with you upfront. For a full breakdown, read our guide: how much does pension advice cost?

Do I need a large pension to get help?

No. Whether you have one small pot or several larger ones, a review will show you exactly what you have and what your options are.

I live outside the North East. Can you still help?

Yes. Our head office is in Newcastle upon Tyne, but we advise clients across the UK. Get in touch and we’ll arrange your review at a time that suits you.

Are you regulated?

Yes. Reeves Independent Limited is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA Register No. 839943). You can check our entry on the FCA register.

What do I need to have ready?

Nothing to start with. If you have recent pension statements to hand, great — but with your permission we can contact your providers and gather the details for you.

I already have an adviser. Can I get a second opinion?

Of course. Many clients come to us for a fresh look at their plan, their charges or their investments. A review will show you whether there’s a better way.
