Why It Matters

Every Handover Is a Chance for Something to Slip

Most engineering jobs need three or four trades. Hire them separately and you become the project manager, the scheduler and the referee. Hire M&C and that becomes our job.

Six Separate Contractors

The usual way to buy a multi-trade job

  • Six programmes to line up, and dead time while one trade waits for the next.
  • Six sets of paperwork, inductions, insurances and method statements to check.
  • Faults at the interfaces, where each trade says the problem belongs to someone else.
  • Six invoices and six numbers to chase when something needs looking at later.

One M&C Team

Every discipline on one contract

  • One programme, with every trade sequenced by the same planner.
  • One set of paperwork and one site team that gets to know your site.
  • One point of contact who owns the whole result, interfaces included.
  • One invoice and one number for servicing, repairs and call-outs afterwards.

Case in Point

A fully mobile ferric dosing plant for Cliff Quay Sewage Treatment Works in Ipswich: the tank, two inverter-driven pumps, PLC and HMI controls, lighting, an emergency shower and a 130 m bunded pipe with no joins. One team, eight weeks from brief to commissioning.

Hydraulics and Lifting

Is Your Lifting Equipment Due Its LOLER Examination?

Tail lifts, passenger lifts and lorry-mounted cranes must be thoroughly examined by a competent person at set intervals. As ALLMI members, our engineers examine them at your premises anywhere in East Anglia or at our site, then service and repair what they find.

  • 6 MonthsEquipment that lifts people, such as passenger lifts and most tail lifts, plus lifting accessories like chains and slings.
  • 12 MonthsOther lifting equipment, such as lorry-mounted cranes and goods-only hoists.
  • AlsoAfter installation, after major repairs and after anything that could affect its safety.

LOLER Due Date Checker

Pick the equipment and the date of its last thorough examination.

Equipment

A guide only, based on the maximum intervals in LOLER Regulation 9. An examination scheme drawn up by a competent person can set different intervals, and the last report may name an earlier date.

Questions

Questions We Get Asked

Anything else? Call 0845 6000 002 or email the team.

Can You Take On Just One Part of a Job?

Yes. Plenty of clients use us for a single discipline, such as a pump repair, a fabricated part or a LOLER examination. The benefit of one team is there when a job needs more than one trade, but it is never a condition.

Which Areas Do You Cover?

We are based in Martlesham, near Ipswich, and work across East Anglia, London and the Midlands, including treatment works and water recycling centres in Ipswich, Colchester and Clacton. For LOLER examinations we come to your premises anywhere in East Anglia, or you can bring vehicles to our site.

How Often Does a Tail Lift Need a LOLER Examination?

At least every 6 months when it is used to lift people, and that includes an operator riding the platform. Equipment that only lifts goods needs examining at least every 12 months, unless a written examination scheme sets a different interval.

Use the LOLER checker to work out your next date.

Do You Respond to Breakdowns and Emergencies?

Yes. Our mobile fleet and emergency response units cover pump, mechanical, electrical and lifting faults. Call 0845 6000 002 and tell us what has happened.

Are You Accredited for Utility and Infrastructure Work?

We hold ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certification, Achilles UVDB verification, ALLMI and NICEIC accreditation, and FORS Bronze for our fleet. Ask us for certificates and insurance details for your supplier records.

Can You Work From Our Drawings, or Design It for Us?

Both. We can build to your drawings and specification, or survey the site and design the solution ourselves, from a single fabricated part to a complete installation.
