Why Lombard

Fewer handovers. Fewer surprises.

A typical shipment passes between a forwarder, a customs broker, a haulier, a warehouse and a delivery network. Every handover is a chance for a delay, a missing document or damage that nobody owns. With Lombard, one company handles each stage, so there is one team to call and one team accountable.

Exports in practice

Right first time. No chasing.

For nine years we handled every export for Typhoo Tea: an average of 170 tonnes a year to more than 14 countries, from the USA and Canada to the Far East. Our export team certified and legalised each consignment with chambers of commerce and embassies, so shipments weren't held at foreign ports running up demurrage.

“What we particularly value is the fact that left in their capable hands the job will be done ‘right first time’ and we don’t have to chase for any information regarding the shipments.”

About Lombard

Family-run since 1985. Still independent.

We started in 1985 as Lombard Shipping & Forwarding (Felixstowe) Limited. Four decades on, we are still privately owned and run by the Fraser family. Managing Director Simon Fraser has been a director of the company for more than thirty years, and his son Peter sits on the board alongside Alan Foulkes and Ken Blood.

Today 95 people work across our six depots, from the forwarding desks in Ipswich to the drivers and warehouse teams in Liverpool, Belfast and Dublin. We put our money into our own fleet, warehouses and people, because that is how we keep our promise.
