Call 01502 516971Ships that have to make the tide. Bridges that have to lift on time. Plant that has to keep running. Since 1966, LEC Marine has designed, built, installed and tested the electrics behind them, from our workshops in Lowestoft.

Book testingThe same skills keep a supply vessel at sea, a jack-up working and a pumping station running. Here is how we put them to work in each of our six sectors.

Supply and standby vessels, tugs, anchor handlers, trawlers, ferries and yachts. Repairs at scheduled port calls or emergency breakdowns, plus new installations, refits and survey work.

Qualified electrical engineers for offshore oil and gas installations and jack-up barges, backed by our workshop for hazardous and safe area equipment.

Electrical maintenance and repairs for the vessels that build and service wind farms, with a 24-hour response to breakdowns.

Repairs, new installations, refits and periodic surveys for factories, process plant and moving road bridges, including bridges we have maintained in Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth for many years.

Safe and hazardous area control panels for treatment works, including sites for Thames Water, installed and repaired by our own CompEx-trained engineers.

Bespoke Ex control panels for potentially explosive atmospheres in chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, utility, offshore and marine sites.
Hand-overs between firms are where details get lost. So we don’t have them: the engineers who draw your system work alongside the people who build, install and certify it, on one site in Lowestoft.
Our own design engineers draw every system in AutoCAD Electrical, from load analysis and discrimination of protective devices to cable routing and segregation. Plan approval to Lloyd’s, DNV, BV and other Class rules when you need it.
Switchboards and control panels are made in our own manufacturing workshop, on bespoke steelwork or proven enclosures, with components from Schneider, ABB and other leading makers.
Time-served engineers fit it on board, offshore or on site, with CompEx-trained engineers for hazardous areas. Class inspections during manufacture and installation if required.
Every job ends with a written report and certificate of test from calibrated equipment, plus NICEIC certification to BS 7671 where it applies.
From a single starter to a main switchboard suite, we design and manufacture bespoke LV switchgear for ships, offshore installations, factories and treatment works. Our ISO 9001:2015 certification covers the design and manufacture of every board, so full documentation and test certificates come as standard.

Pick the basics and we’ll add them to your enquiry. Not sure? Choose “Not sure” and our design team will advise.
With our own workshop and portable current injection sets, we test and recertify protection on board, offshore and ashore. Every job comes with a full written report and certificate of test, from equipment that is itself regularly tested and calibrated.
To Classification Society requirements
NICEIC, to BS 7671
We work closely with Lloyd’s Register, DNV and Bureau Veritas, and test equipment from ABB, Schneider, Telemecanique, Megacon, Siemens and Deif.

Lowestoft’s third river crossing, opened in September 2024, needed its hydraulic, power and control systems wired by people who know moving bridges. Working for MEICA contractor Oilgear Towler, a firm we had already partnered with on other road bridges, we started the cabling and containment installation in October 2023.

Every cable was checked and tested against Oilgear Towler’s schematics as it was terminated, and certified to BS 7671 with NICEIC certification.

The lifting road bridge over the River Yare, electrically maintained by our team.

Joining Lake Lothing and Oulton Broad, and also maintained by us.
Not every project is a landmark bridge. Most are the steady, exacting work that keeps vessels sailing and sites running, and we take the same care over all of it.

L.E.C. Marine was first registered in 1966, and we’ve served the marine, industrial and offshore industries ever since. Around 25 full-time staff work from our Lowestoft site: time-served engineers, technicians and design engineers, led by a management team with deep electrical engineering experience of its own.
On site: an electrical engineering workshop, a switchboard and control panel manufacturing workshop, a general workshop, two storage units and our main office.
We’re recruiting approved electricians and electrical technicians for an immediate start. If you can carry out repairs, installation and testing to a high standard with minimal supervision, in marine, industrial or hazardous area environments, we’d like to hear from you.
Experience of electrical maintenance and fault diagnosis is an advantage. All positions are full time and subject to a probationary period.

Call 01502 516971Yes. Office hours are 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, and a full 24-hour repair service runs through our main number, 01502 516971, outside those hours. Ring it for breakdowns on board, offshore or on site.
From our base in Lowestoft we cover the whole east coast, including Great Yarmouth and the rest of Norfolk and Suffolk, and we work throughout the UK and abroad.
Both. Our in-house design engineers can take your specification and produce full AutoCAD Electrical drawings, or build to your own approved drawings. Either way the board is made in our Lowestoft workshop and tested before it leaves.
Yes. We carry out design, manufacture and installation to Lloyd’s Register, DNV, ABS, Bureau Veritas and MCA requirements, with plan approval and Class inspections during manufacture and installation if required.
Yes. We carry out primary and secondary current injection up to 6,000 A AC, in our workshop or on board, and test generator protection, reverse power modules and earth monitoring equipment to Class requirements. You get a certificate of test on completion.
Our offshore engineers hold BOSIET with CA-EBS and MIST as a minimum, plus CompEx 1 to 4 for hazardous area equipment. For Norwegian waters they also have escape chute training, a full medical and in-water training.
A full written report and certificate of test with every test and inspection job, NICEIC certification for installation work to BS 7671, and full supporting documentation and test certificates for every switchboard and control panel we build.
