01Why HY-TEK

Precision that fits, in parts and in partnership.

Look closely at the H in our logo. The crossbar is keyed into both uprights: separate parts, made to fit. That’s how we work. Components that drop straight into your assembly A, from a team that fits the way you work B.

  1. Right first time

Every part is made with care and inspected before it leaves us, under a BSI-certified ISO 9001 quality system with full traceability.

  2. One workshop, one order

Machining, grinding, EDM, fabrication and welding in-house, plus managed anodising, plating, painting and NDT. You receive a finished component, not a supply chain to manage.

  3. Straight answers, quickly

Deal directly with the people who make your parts: clear quotes, realistic lead times and quick replies. Just ask our customers.

02Capabilities

Eight processes. One workshop. Your part, finished.

Up-to-date CNC alongside traditional manual skills, so every component is made the right way, whether it’s a single prototype, low-volume specialist work or a large production run.

04Industries

Made for industries that can’t afford a bad part.

Our customers work offshore, on the seabed and in the field. When a component doesn’t fit, a vessel waits, a turbine stands still or a machine sits idle. So we make sure it fits.

  • Subsea

Components for subsea exploration, trenching and cable-laying equipment, where there’s no popping back to fix it.

  • Offshore

Responsive machining and fabrication for offshore operations, from one-off replacements to repeat spares.

  • Renewable energy

Precision parts and fabrications for the renewables supply chain, made to spec and delivered on time.

  • Defence

Components produced under a BSI-certified quality system, with the traceability defence work demands.

  • Agriculture

Tough, serviceable parts and fabrications that keep machinery working through the season.

  • Automotive

Prototype and low-volume components machined to exacting standards.

06About HY-TEK

Six decades of precision. Made in Great Yarmouth.

Independent and privately owned since 1992, with roots going back more than 65 years. The machines have changed. The standards haven’t.

Michael Rix, who joined HY-TEK as an apprentice more than 50 years ago, standing beside a spark erosion machine in the workshop

Back then, everything was drawn by hand and machined manually. Now, it’s a different world, but the principles of good engineering haven’t changed.

Michael Rix joined as an EITB apprentice more than 50 years ago, and has trained generations of HY-TEK engineers since.
  1. 1958

The business that became HY-TEK is formed as Telecommunications Ltd.

  2. Mid-1980s

Joins the OSEL Group, whose work ranged from precision engineering to robotic subsea vehicles. OSEL won the Queen’s Award for Technological Achievement in 1982.

  3. 1992
