What we do

Two disciplines. One standard: it has to work.

Every system is designed, built and tested under one roof in Haverhill, whether it's a catalogue charger or a one-off power system for an offshore platform.

Why it matters

Most of what we build is never seen. It just has to work.

Our equipment lives in trackside cabinets, substations, pumping stations, bridge decks and offshore installations. Nobody notices it until the mains drops or a structure starts to corrode. Then it's the only thing that matters.

  1. When the mains drops at a level crossing

Our PADS-approved chargers keep the standby batteries behind signalling, point-end switching and level crossings charged and ready.

  2. When a substation needs to trip

Switch-tripping chargers hold the DC supply that operates the breakers, with changeover in under 10 ms and alarms for every fault condition.

  3. When steel meets soil, sea or concrete

Our ICCP systems deliver exactly the current a structure needs, so corrosion stops without over-protection damaging its coatings.

Cathodic protection

From one zone to a hundred and twenty.

Switch-mode ICCP power built on more than 35 years of rectifier experience. Ultra-low ripple and a built-in interrupter come as standard.

How impressed current cathodic protection works

  1. Transformer-rectifier. Converts AC mains, or solar and wind power, into a precisely controlled DC output.
  2. Anode groundbed. Inert anodes discharge protective current into the soil, water or concrete.
  3. Protective current. Flows through the electrolyte to the structure, suppressing the reaction that causes corrosion.
  4. Protected structure. The pipeline, tank, pier or rebar becomes the cathode, so it doesn't corrode.
  5. Reference cell. Measures the structure's potential so output can be set precisely, without over-protecting coatings.
  6. Remote monitoring. 4G, GSM or TCP/IP links report readings and raise alarms, so engineers only travel when they need to.

Bespoke engineering

Built to your specification, not our catalogue.

Our standard ranges cover most requirements at short lead times. When they don't, the in-house team that designs our products takes yours from first conversation to factory acceptance test, and you deal with them directly throughout.

  1. 01

    Brief

Send your specification, drawings or simply the problem. We capture the requirements and site constraints, and visit if it helps.

  2. 02

    Design

Draft drawings and a specification for your review, created in SolidWorks and Altium. Nothing goes into production until you've signed it off.

  3. 03

    Build

Power electronics, PCBs, embedded firmware, wiring looms and enclosures, built in-house in Haverhill.

  4. 04

    Test

Every solution is tested in our own facility, including environmental and EMC pre-compliance testing where the application calls for it.

  5. 05

    Accept & support

Witness the factory acceptance test, then we attend site for UAT. After that: spares, repairs and maintenance for the life of the system.

Supported for the life of the system

  • Spares from stock

We hold high stock levels for our systems, so a failed part doesn't become weeks of downtime.

  • Repairs, any make

Repair and maintenance for Duvine, Rectifier Technologies and non-OEM equipment.

  • Installation

We can manage installation, and attend site for user acceptance testing.

  • Remote monitoring

Watch cathodic protection from anywhere, with automatic alarms and regular reports.

Since 1981

Forty-five years of DC power, made in Haverhill.

Duvine was founded in 1981 to design and build bespoke DC power systems. Our first major projects were 12 V trackside telecoms power for British Rail and 24 V roadside systems for Highways Agency transmission stations.

Today we're part of DMS Technologies. We still design, build and test in Suffolk, and we supply the UK and the rest of the world with partners in Spain, the Netherlands and Australia.

FAQs

Questions engineers ask us first.

Can't see yours? Call 01440 706777 or email sales@duvine.co.uk.

Do you only sell standard products?

No. Our standard ranges cover most outputs from 12 V to 240 V and above at short lead times. When they don't fit, we design bespoke systems up to 400 V DC, and many projects start as a variant of a standard product.

Can you build to our specification?

Yes, that's most of what we do. Send your specification, drawings or simply the problem. We gather the requirements, issue draft drawings for your approval, then build and test in-house in Haverhill.

Can we witness testing before delivery?

Yes. You're welcome to witness factory acceptance testing (FAT) at our Haverhill facility, and we can attend site for user acceptance testing (UAT).

Do you repair or supply spares for other manufacturers' equipment?

Yes. We hold high stock levels of spares for our own systems and provide repair and maintenance for Duvine, Rectifier Technologies and non-OEM units.

Can cathodic protection be monitored remotely?

Yes. Our ICCP systems can be monitored and controlled remotely over 4G, GSM or TCP/IP, with automatic alarms and regular performance reports by email.

Do you supply outside the UK?

Yes. The UK is our main focus, but we supply power and cathodic protection systems worldwide, with partners in Spain, the Netherlands and Australia.

Which approvals do you hold?

Network Rail PADS approval, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, Achilles UVDB and Cyber Essentials. We're also a Gold Sustaining member of the Institute of Corrosion and a member of the Corrosion Prevention Association.
