FCL or LCL, and five other questions before you book
The questions shippers ask most before booking. Anything else, ring the office on 01473 653030.
What’s the difference between FCL and LCL?
FCL, a full container load, means the whole container carries one customer’s goods. LCL, less than container load, suits cargo that won’t fill a container: we consolidate it with other shippers’ freight so it moves with the minimum delay, and you pay for the space you use.
Which ports do you clear customs at?
All the major UK airports and seaports. Our customs department works under Customs Freight Simplified Procedures (CFSP), holds a T1 transit guarantee and handles duty management, reporting and product classification.
Can goods be stored in bond?
Yes. The 106,000 sq ft Felixstowe warehouse is bonded and ERTS approved, so imports can leave the port and be held under customs control until they’re cleared or re-exported.
Which Incoterm should I use?
It depends how much of the journey you want to control. FCA, CPT, CIP, DAP, DPU and DDP work for any mode, including containers and air freight. FAS, FOB, CFR and CIF are written for sea and inland waterway cargo, and the ICC suggests FCA rather than FOB for containers. The Incoterms guide shows who pays at each stage.
Do you export recyclables?
Yes. Secondary commodity exports are a large part of our work. We understand letter of credit requirements, can obtain or self-print carrier bills of lading the same day once they’re approved, and track each shipment to final delivery.
How do I get a quote?
