Easily the most reasonable quote for fencing… Fast and efficient delivery, driver was really friendly and put all the materials exactly where needed with time and care. (Our puppy was also very grateful for the attention!)

Charlotte W.Fencing, Google review

Not only did they have all the different timber sizes I wanted for my project in stock, they were cheaper than other merchants in the area. The delivery was the same day… I have used Blewets for 20+ years and will continue to use them as my go-to timber merchants.

GrahamSame-day delivery, Google review

Fired off an email requesting a quote, had a response back in well under an hour. Was the best quote and arranged delivery over the phone… delivery driver very courteous and unloaded (I helped) exactly where I needed the materials.

Ricky L.Quote and delivery, Google review

The gentleman helped me pick out exactly what wood I would need to build a picnic table and also helped solidify the plans for it.

Joshua C.DIY project, Google review

Product quality is equal if not better than any of the large national merchants and you don't get palmed off with the poor quality that sometimes gets picked in a large merchant's yard to get rid of it.

Peter P.Repeat customer, Google review

Excellent customer service, and even better prices. I have used these guys for years. Even as a DIYer it's never a problem.

The Yard

A Small Yard That Answers the Phone

Blewets Timber is an independent merchant at The Sawmills in Culford, a few minutes north of Bury St Edmunds. This year we celebrate ten years as Blewets Timber Ltd, and the team's experience in the trade goes back decades.

We're small on purpose. When you ring, you speak to someone who knows timber, and you deal with that same person until it's delivered. We stock what local builders, joiners, landscapers, fencers and DIYers actually use, and we can source hardwoods we don't keep in stock.

Customers have noticed the other things too: a donation of materials for a local school's early-years garden, and a flagpole delivered to the local crematorium so families at military funerals can fly their standard.

FAQ

Questions We Get Asked a Lot

Can't see yours? Ring 01284 530678 or email info@blewets.com.

Do You Cut Timber to Size?

Yes, and it's free. Send your cutting list with the order and we'll cut it at the yard, ready to fix. The only thing we can't cut is sheet material, such as ply, OSB and MDF.

How Much Does Delivery Cost?

Nothing within ten miles of the yard, whatever the size of the order. Further afield, delivery is free on any order over £100 and low-cost below that. Use the postcode checker on this page or give us a ring.

Can I Get It Today?

Often, yes. Same-day delivery and collection are available on stock items, and most materials are ready within the hour (hardwoods take longer). Ring 01284 530678 first thing and we'll tell you what's possible.

Do You Serve DIY Customers as Well as Trade?

Yes. Builders, joiners, fencers, landscapers, allotment holders and weekend DIYers all buy from us, from a single length to a full load.

Are Your Prices Inc VAT?

Our published price list is ex VAT. The price board on this page can show either: use the Inc VAT and Ex VAT buttons. Specials and larger orders are often cheaper, so ring for today's price.

Can I Collect From the Yard?

Yes. We're at The Sawmills, Culford, Bury St Edmunds IP28 6UE, open Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. If you're coming for something specific, ring ahead so we can check stock and have it ready.

Do You Make Bespoke Gates?

Yes. Tell us the type of gate and the measurements and we'll come back with a price. We also stock field gates, garden gates and ledged and braced doors.

Which Hardwoods Do You Stock?

Oak, ash, beech, maple and sapele, with free cutting. If you need another species, ask and we'll source it.

How Should I Store Timber Before I Use It?

Keep it off the ground, under a breathable waterproof sheet, with air around it. That stops moisture building up and helps prevent warping.

Are You Open at Weekends?

No. We're open Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm, and closed on bank holidays. Email info@blewets.com any time and we'll pick it up first thing.
