What We Cut

Nine Ways Through Concrete.

From one small hole for a cable to an opening through the thickest wall, we bring the right diamond tool for the job and operatives qualified to use it, plus the builders’ work in between.

Diamond Core Drilling

Clean, round holes through reinforced concrete, brick, block and asphalt, for pipes, ducts, cables and fixings. Rig-mounted, straight and true.

Ø10 to 1,000 mmPlan Core Holes

Floor Sawing

Straight, precise cuts through reinforced concrete and asphalt, for trenches, drainage runs, joints and slab removal. Diesel saws outside, propane or three-phase electric indoors.

Up to 525 mm deepPlan a Floor Cut

Wall and Track Sawing

Accurate door, window and vent openings in concrete walls, cut on a track-mounted saw with straight or bevel edges and lifted out in sections.

Straight or bevel cutsPlan an Opening

Wire Sawing

A diamond wire loop cuts through thick walls and large structures that no blade can reach, with almost no limit on depth.

Almost no depth limitPlan an Opening

Hand-Held Sawing

Ring and chain saws for quick, precise cuts through walls and floors, inside or out, where bigger machines can’t go.

Up to 630 mm thickPlan an Opening

Wall and Floor Chasing

Neat channels for conduit, cable trays and pipework, cut with a full dust extraction shroud connected to an industrial vacuum.

On-tool dust extractionPlan a Chase

Bursting and Crunching

Controlled demolition without breakers: hydraulic bursting splits concrete from diamond-drilled holes, and crunching crushes slabs and walls up to 300 mm thick.

No hammeringPlan a Break Out

Resin Anchors and Fixings

Dowel bars, threaded rod and anchors resin-fixed into concrete and masonry with Hilti, Fischer and Rawl systems, with load testing arranged on request.

Surface Preparation

Concrete floors prepared for resin toppings or self-levelling screed, or levels reduced, with kit from hand-held to ride-on and the dust suppressed or vacuumed.

How We’d Likely Do It

Diamond Core Drilling

  • A rig-mounted diamond core drill, fixed in place so every hole is straight and true.
  • Wet cut, which keeps the dust down. We control the slurry and clear it away as we go.
  • Clean, round holes from 10 mm to 1,000 mm, with virtually no limit on depth, straight through the reinforcement.

What We’ll Check With You

  • Do you have drawings showing the rebar and services, or should the area be scanned first?
  • Is it a fire compartment wall or floor? The penetration will need fire stopping afterwards.

How We Work

Clean Cuts. Clean Sites. No Surprises.

Cutting concrete is wet, dusty and loud when it’s done carelessly. Here’s how we keep it precise, controlled and safe, on busy sites and in buildings people are still using.

01

Precise, Not Percussive

Diamond tools cut and core without hammering, so openings come out clean and accurate, and the concrete around them isn’t damaged by impact.

02

Dust and Slurry Under Control

Silica dust is the biggest risk to construction workers after asbestos, says HSE. We control it at source: water on wet cuts, with the slurry collected and cleared, and a dust shroud and industrial vacuum on dry cutting.

Source: HSE: silica and construction

03

Less Noise, Less Vibration

Core drilling is relatively quiet, and bursting and crunching break concrete without percussive breakers. HSE lists all three as alternatives to hand-held breaking.

FAQs

Straight Answers Before We Cut.

Sizes, dust, engineers, fire stopping and price. If your question isn’t here, call the office and talk to someone who does the cutting.

01986 483589
How Big a Hole Can You Core?

From 10 mm up to 1,000 mm across, through reinforced concrete, brick, block and asphalt, with virtually no limit on depth. Larger openings are stitch drilled or sawn instead.

Will You Come Out for Just One Hole?

Yes. One hole or a thousand, it’s the same service. Send a photo of the wall, the size you need and what it’s for, such as an extractor fan, soil pipe or air conditioning, and we’ll price it.

Do I Need a Structural Engineer?

For an opening in a load-bearing wall, yes. Altering a load-bearing wall needs building control approval and a structural engineer’s calculations, and any temporary propping must be in place before we cut. Planning Portal guidance

For any new opening or large hole in a wall or slab, have your engineer confirm the size and position first. We cut to their drawing.

How Do You Control Dust and Slurry?

At source. Wet cutting and coring keep the dust down, and we control the slurry and clear it away as we go. Our dry cutting kit has a full dust extraction shroud connected to an industrial vacuum, so very little dust escapes.

Can You Work in a Building That’s Still in Use?

Yes, with some planning. Core drilling is relatively quiet, dust is controlled at source, and bursting and crunching avoid the noise of percussive breakers. Tell us about the building, working hours and access when you ask for a price.

Can You Core Through a Post-Tensioned Slab?

Post-tensioned slabs carry stressed steel tendons that must not be damaged, and their positions are usually marked on the underside. We only core once the tendons have been located and your engineer is happy with each hole’s position.

Will the Hole Need Fire Stopping?

If a pipe, duct or cable passes through a fire-resisting wall or floor, yes. The opening has to be sealed with fire stopping so the wall or floor keeps its fire resistance, usually by a specialist installer with a tested system. Tell us and we’ll keep the hole as small as that system allows. Approved Document B

Why Burst or Crunch Instead of Using Breakers?

Hand-held breakers expose operators to high levels of hand-arm vibration, and HSE lists hydraulic bursting, crushing, diamond core drilling and wire cutting as alternatives. Bursting splits concrete from drilled holes and the bursting itself puts no vibration through the operator, while crunching is far quieter than breaking.

Are Your Operatives Qualified?

Every operative holds a Blue CSCS Skilled Worker card and an NVQ Level 2 in drilling and sawing as a minimum. We’re members of the Drilling and Sawing Association, the trade body for UK drilling and sawing contractors, and an SSIP approved contractor.

How Is a Job Priced?

Most work is priced per hole or per metre of cut, depending on diameter, depth, reinforcement, access and how the water and slurry are handled. Send us drawings or photos and we’ll give you a fixed price.

Which Areas Do You Cover?

Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Essex and Bedfordshire, from our base at Ditchingham, near Bungay. We also travel further afield when a client needs us.
