What we do

Every layer of protection.
One partner.

Most buildings end up with a patchwork: one firm for fire, another for alarms, a third for cameras, and nobody responsible for how it all works together. We design, install and maintain the lot as one system.

Fire detection & alarms

Designed, installed, commissioned and maintained under BAFE SP203-1 and the BSI Kitemark for fire detection and alarm systems.

  • Commercial systems to BS 5839-1
  • Homes to BS 5839-6
  • Fire extinguisher servicing, BAFE SP101 approved

Intruder alarms

Intruder and hold-up alarms designed, installed and maintained under NSI Gold approval, recognised for Metropolitan Police response.

  • Dual-path signalling, such as CSL DualCom
  • Monitored by a UK centre staffed 24/7
  • Police and keyholder response
Talk to us about alarms

CCTV & video analytics

High-definition cameras and video analytics, designed, installed and maintained under NSI Gold approval.

  • HD and 8MP cameras, inside and out
  • Analytics for queues, crowds and retail
  • View every camera from a control room or any device
Talk to us about CCTV

Access control & door entry

Doors, gates, turnstiles and intercoms that know who is allowed where, and when, under NSI Gold approval.

  • Card, fob and biometric access
  • Door entry and video intercoms
  • Anti-passback and database links, as at Oaklands College
Talk to us about access

Perimeter protection

Stop trouble at the boundary, not the front door, with detection and physical barriers that work together.

  • Fibre-optic perimeter intrusion detection
  • Gates, barriers, bollards and road blockers
  • Turnstiles and traffic control
Talk to us about perimeters

Monitoring & maintenance

Annual servicing to full maintenance contracts, with a UK-based monitoring centre staffed around the clock.

  • 24/7 remote monitoring
  • Maintenance contracts with 24/7 response
  • Emergency call-outs for contracted clients

Business intelligence

Security that pays its way.

The cameras that protect your building can help run it, too. Our business intelligence systems use the same footage to manage queues, monitor health and safety, check deliveries, record till transactions and challenge false claims, across one site or many.

Over £1,500 a year off the electricity bill. At a world-famous five-star hotel in London’s West End, two new high-throughput servers replaced six running just over 200 cameras, while the hotel stayed fully occupied.

  • Queue & crowd management
  • Health & safety monitoring
  • Process & manufacturing
  • Transaction recording
  • False claim reduction
  • Multi-site oversight

Integrated systems

02:14.
The loading-bay door is forced.

Here’s what happens next when your intruder alarm, cameras, access control and monitoring were designed to work as one.

A security camera on a dark building facade at night
Loading bay, 02:14
  1. 02:14:06

    The door contact trips

The intruder alarm activates and knows exactly which door, on which floor.

  2. 02:14:08

Camera 12 calls up the event

The nearest camera sends live and recorded footage of that door straight to the monitoring centre.

  3. 02:14:31

    An operator verifies it

Trained staff at a UK monitoring centre see what’s happening, issue a live audio warning and follow your site’s protocol.

  4. 02:15:02

    Police and keyholder alerted

A confirmed alarm is passed to the police, and your keyholder is called with the facts, not just a beep.

  5. 07:30:00

    Ready for the morning

Footage, door logs and the operator’s notes in one place, for you, your insurer and the police.

An example sequence. Response protocols are agreed for each site.

Our work

Proven in buildings where failure isn’t an option.

A listed auditorium, a legendary club that never sleeps and a campus of nearly 10,000 students. Three very different problems, each solved for good.

The Dominion Theatre at night Grade II listed, opened 1928

Dominion Theatre, West End

Total coverage.
Not one blocked view.

As part of a £6m refurbishment, we replaced an outdated analogue system with an IP network of more than 60 HD cameras on a brand-new fibre backbone. Every camera and cable run was kept discreet and painted to match the art deco interior, and the work was squeezed in between show runs.

  • 60+ HD cameras
  • 5km of cabling
  • 0 seats with a blocked view

Ronnie Scott’s jazz club in Soho at night Soho, since 1959

Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, Soho

When the council switched off the street cameras, the club didn’t go dark.

We moved London’s most famous jazz club from analogue to IP HD, with every camera viewable from a secure room or any smart device. When Westminster Council switched off the public CCTV outside, we added four 8MP cameras covering the whole exterior, rooftop included, and took the system down into the wine cellar.

  • 4 × 8MP external cameras
  • IP HD from analogue
  • Any device remote viewing

Oaklands College’s St Albans campus St Albans & Welwyn Garden City

Oaklands College, Hertfordshire

Two campuses. One control room.
New operators running in 20 minutes.

We moved both campuses onto Avigilon cameras and video analytics, linked access control to the student database through LDAP and added anti-passback. Welwyn Garden City is now monitored from St Albans, and the system is simple enough that new operators are up and running within 20 minutes.

  • ~10,000 students protected
  • 2 campuses, one system
  • 20 min operators up and running

Martyn’s Law

Martyn’s Law is coming.
Is your venue ready?

The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 became law on 3 April 2025. It will apply to certain premises where 200 or more people are reasonably expected at the same time, and to events of 800 or more. The Security Industry Authority will regulate it, and expects the duties to start from spring 2027.

How we help you get ready

  • A walk-round of your premises against the tier that applies
  • Access control that can lock doors down from one place
  • CCTV and monitoring to help spot hostile reconnaissance
  • Training on site, so your team can use every system
Talk to us about Martyn’s Law

Standard tier

200 to 799 people

Procedures for evacuation, invacuation, lockdown and communication, so your team knows exactly what to do.

Enhanced tier

800+ people

Everything above, plus public protection measures for monitoring, movement, physical safety and security, and security of information, a compliance document for the SIA and, for organisations, a designated senior individual.

A summary, not legal advice. Check GOV.UK and the SIA’s guidance for the duties that apply to you. Many duties can be met without buying specialist services; where systems help, we can advise. Amax supports the Action Counters Terrorism campaign.

Why Amax

The people in your building matter as much as the kit on the walls.

Every Amax engineer is vetted and qualified, and our work is independently audited by NSI, BSI and BAFE.

  • Vetted every year

Every Amax engineer is DBS-checked and security vetted, renewed annually through the Metropolitan Police.

  • Properly qualified

Our engineers hold ECS cards and at least NVQ Level 3 through TAVCOM, and are IPAF and PASMA trained for safe work at height.

  • Run like a construction project

SMSTS-trained project managers and SSSTS-qualified lead engineers, so main contractors can rely on us on site.

  • Tested before it reaches you

On projects like the Dominion Theatre, equipment is prepared and tested at our Harrow headquarters first, so installation causes as little disruption as possible.

Independently audited

NSI Gold for intruder alarms, CCTV and access control, including an ISO 9001 quality system audited by NSI. BAFE SP203-1 registered (no. 301782) and BSI Kitemarked (KM 653211) for fire detection and alarm systems. A member of the Fire Industry Association.

How it works

From first call to fully protected.

No jargon, no padding and no surprises. Just a clear route from the survey to a system that works on the night it matters.

  1. Free site survey

A specialist walks your site, learns how it’s really used and pinpoints the genuine risks.

  2. One clear design

An integrated design and a clear proposal for every system it covers.

  3. Installed around you

Planned around your building. At the Dominion Theatre, work fitted between show runs.

  4. Handover & training

We train your team on site. At Oaklands College, new operators were up and running within 20 minutes.

  5. Monitored & maintained

Servicing and maintenance contracts that can include 24/7 response.

FAQs

Straight answers.

Can’t see your question? Call 020 8427 2242 and speak to a specialist.

Which areas do you cover?

We’re based in Harrow and work across London and the South East. For larger and multi-site clients we also work further afield, across the UK and on international projects.

Is the site survey really free?

Yes, for qualifying businesses. A specialist visits, assesses your risks, checks any existing systems and recommends a design. There’s no obligation to go ahead.

Can you upgrade a system another company installed?

Yes. Plenty of our projects start as upgrades: the Dominion Theatre and Ronnie Scott’s both began with outdated analogue CCTV. We’ll survey what’s there and recommend what to keep and what to replace.

What does NSI Gold actually mean?

NSI Gold is the National Security Inspectorate’s highest level of approval. NSI audits our intruder alarm, CCTV and access control work, and the ISO 9001 quality system behind it. Our fire alarm work is certified separately, under BAFE SP203-1 and the BSI Kitemark.

Will installation disrupt my business?

We plan around you. At the Dominion Theatre the installation fitted between show runs, with equipment prepared and tested in advance at our Harrow headquarters so it could go straight in.

Do you work with architects, consultants and contractors?

Yes. We work alongside AV specialists, security consultants, prime residential contractors, electrical contractors, architects and interior designers, from specification through to commissioning.

Do you offer 24/7 support?

Yes. Maintenance contracts can include 24/7 response and emergency call-outs, and monitored sites are watched around the clock by a UK-based monitoring centre staffed by trained security professionals.

Do you protect homes as well as businesses?

Yes, mainly high-value and super-prime residences and period properties, where discretion and design matter as much as protection.
