How many foam tiles do I need?

Each Premium Classic tile is 50cm by 50cm and covers 0.25m². Divide each side of your space by 0.5m, round up, and multiply the two answers. A 3m by 4m room takes 6 tiles by 8, so 48 tiles. A pack of 25 covers 6.25m² and a pack of 6 covers 1.5m². Every tile comes with two straight edge strips, and all Premium Classic colours share one interlock, so they mix freely. The floor planner does the sums, chooses the cheapest mix of packs and draws your floor in colour.

Are Soft Floor tiles safe for babies and children?

Our EVA foam is non-toxic, odourless and free of latex, ammonia and phthalates, and the Premium Classic is listed as suitable for all ages. In early 2024 SATRA tested an EVA foam tile to EN 71-1 and EN 71-2, the toy standards for mechanical and physical properties and for flammability. SGS tested it to REACH for cadmium, phthalates and formamide. The EN 71-1 result excludes the labelling and instruction clauses. Every report is on our Product Testing page.

How thick are the tiles, and how much cushioning do they give?

The Premium Classic is 14mm of medium-density EVA foam, listed with up to 1m critical fall height on a solid floor. Wood effect tiles are 12mm of denser foam, also listed up to 1m. Carpet tiles are 12mm, with 3mm of pile on a 9mm EVA base, listed to 0.8m. Classic Sport tiles are 20mm and listed to 1.8m. Many budget tiles are 9 to 10mm, which is why the range comparison draws thickness to scale.

How do I lay and cut the tiles?

Click the tiles together by hand and add the straight edge strips along any open side. A flat, smooth, clean floor is best, though the tiles cope with small amounts of dust and small changes in level. Too much variation can make tiles bow upwards. Cut with a utility knife and a good straight edge, wearing gloves. If you are laying over laminate or another smooth floor, add double sided tape under the edges you walk on, as one long-term customer advises.

How do I clean foam, carpet and rubber tiles?

Plain and wood effect foam tiles clean with a dish cloth and warm soapy water or a mild detergent. Do not vacuum them, because that can damage the surface. Carpet tiles can be vacuumed, preferably on the hard floor setting to avoid brush marks. Rubber and PVC tiles should be swept with a soft brush first, then cleaned with a mop and bucket or a power washer. The foam is closed-cell, so it does not absorb water.

How long does delivery take, and what does it cost?

Orders are usually processed within 48 hours, then sent by courier in 3 to 5 working days, or by pallet for large orders. Online orders go to UK mainland addresses. Delivery to most of the mainland starts at £6.96 for parcels up to 4kg, and London and the Scottish Highlands cost more, with every weight band on the delivery page. You can also collect from our warehouse in Wix, Essex, with photo ID.

Can I return tiles I have ordered?

You have a legal right to cancel or return all or part of an order within 14 days of receiving the goods, under the Consumer Contracts Regulations. Print the returns form, put it in the parcel and send it to our Wix address. The returns policy and terms of sale cover the detail. A free sample is the quickest way to check colour and feel before you order a whole floor.

Do you give trade prices, or make custom colours and logos?

We manufacture direct to retail, so our lowest price is always our best price and there are no separate trade rates. For large orders, custom colours and logos, send the details through the enquiry form or call 01206 390 570. On telephone orders we can arrange expedited delivery in some cases, which helps when a show date is fixed.

Large floors, events and custom colours

Tell us the space, the date and what it is for. For large orders, custom colours and logos we reply by email or phone during working hours, Monday to Friday, 9 to 5.
