What SMY looks after in a recruitment agency
Consultants spend the day on the phone and in the CRM. SMY runs both, and the laptops, email and backups around them.
Also Microsoft 365 licences as a Microsoft Cloud Solution Provider, broadband through IDNet and Datanet, and Apple and Adobe reselling.
Phones that follow the consultant
NFON cloud phones ring in the office, at home and on the mobile app, and work with most CRM systems.
The CRM, from anywhere
Run the CRM and your files in the cloud, and consultants can work from the office, from home or between meetings.
CVs from people you don’t know
Incoming email is filtered, and unwanted messages are blocked and quarantined before a phishing link or a Trojan reaches a consultant.
Laptops and phones that leave the building
Devices are encrypted, from phones to USB drives, and can be tracked and wiped remotely if one goes missing.
Backups, and a plan for a bad day
Cloud backup of email, CVs and the CRM database, with a recovery plan for a power cut, bad weather or an office you can’t get into.
Watched around the clock
Servers, PCs, routers, printers and Wi-Fi are monitored day and night, so most faults are found before anyone has to report them.
24/7
Support after the office closes at six, for the same fixed cost
SMY is on hand around the clock, in the evenings and at weekends, and work done out of hours isn’t charged on top.
Agencies with clients in other time zones get help in those hours too.

Screening call, interview, offer and placement
How an agency moves its IT to SMY, in four stages any recruiter will recognise.
Screening call
A call with Jonathan about how your agency works and what isn’t working now.
Interview
Jonathan and Carl look at your systems, phones and logins, and estimate how long the move will take.
Offer
A fixed cost and an agreed level of service, with out-of-hours work included.
Placement
SMY moves you across, then looks after everything from the phones to the backups.
Questions to put to SMY at the interview
Can we stop a leaver taking candidate data on a laptop?
SMY can encrypt agency laptops, phones and USB drives, and set up tracking and remote wipe, so a device that leaves the agency can be locked or wiped and the candidate and client data stays yours.
Do our phones need to change before the landline switch-off?
If they still run on analogue or ISDN lines, yes: Openreach switches those off on 31 January 2027. NFON cloud phones from SMY run over the internet, and the mobile app takes a consultant’s extension wherever they work.
We have clients in other time zones. Are their hours covered?
Yes. SMY is on hand around the clock, so a consultant working to a client’s hours in another time zone can get help then, as part of the same fixed cost.
Is work out of hours charged on top?
No. Costs are fixed and the level of service is agreed at the start, and work done in the evening, overnight or at the weekend is part of it.
How long does a move from another IT provider take?
It depends on what can be handed over. When Fenton Civil Engineering’s IT person left without handing over a single password, it took a couple of months to get everything back under control, and SMY saved their .com domain along the way. Jonathan gives an estimate at the interview stage.
Do you only work with recruitment agencies?
No. Recruitment is a specialism, and SMY also looks after estate agents, law firms, construction companies and financial services firms, from Suffolk and Essex to Buckinghamshire.
