Questions before you book.
How do I find my nearest Shaw Gibbs office?
Type your postcode into the finder at the top of this page. It shows the three nearest offices with their phone numbers and a button to book a meeting. Irish Eircodes work too, and so does the name of an office town. The directory further down lists every office, from Cirencester and Bristol to Oxford, London, Northampton and Norwich, plus Dublin and Cork in Ireland.
What does Shaw Gibbs do?
Shaw Gibbs provides accounts, audit, corporate tax, VAT consultancy, payroll, corporate finance, company secretarial and accounts software support for businesses, and personal tax, property tax, trusts and estates and US tax compliance for individuals. Specialist teams cover agricultural and landed estates, healthcare, property and international clients. Each service has its own page on shawgibbs.com, linked from the services section of this page.
Is a tax adviser the same as an accountant?
Not always. An accountant prepares accounts and files returns. A tax adviser plans how a business or an individual is structured so that no more tax is paid than the law requires. Many firms do both, and so does Shaw Gibbs: the same office can finalise your year-end accounts and, through its team of Chartered Tax Advisers, advise on how you take profit out of a business, plan for inheritance tax or prepare for a sale.
Who does Shaw Gibbs work with?
Shaw Gibbs works with entrepreneurial businesses, private individuals, public sector and non-profit organisations, and international groups. The group looks after around 25,000 clients across the UK and Ireland, and some have been clients for more than 25 years. Specialist teams focus on healthcare, agriculture and landed estates, property and international clients. Clients range from sole traders and owner-managed companies to large corporates and international groups.
Does Shaw Gibbs work in Ireland?
Yes. Crowleys DFK, with offices in Dublin and Cork, joined the Shaw Gibbs Group in January 2026, the group’s first step beyond the UK. The Irish offices and phone lines are listed in the office directory on this page. Enter an Eircode in the finder, or choose Dublin or Cork in the booking form, to reach the team. The Irish team works from two Dublin offices and one in Cork.
Do I need an audit?
If your company or non-profit does not qualify as small, you need a statutory audit. Some businesses choose an audit or an assurance review anyway, because shareholders, lenders or other users of the accounts want more confidence in the numbers. Shaw Gibbs (Audit) Limited is a registered auditor regulated by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. The audit team tailors each audit to the organisation it is working with.
When are Self Assessment tax returns due?
For the 2025 to 2026 tax year, paper returns are due by 31 October 2026. Online returns, and any tax you owe, are due by 31 January 2027. Filing late can lead to penalties, so it helps to start early. The personal tax team prepares and files returns for individuals, including people with income or property outside the UK. These dates come from GOV.UK.
