What is on your desk today?

Choose the closest match. We will show you what we would do, and who on the team specialises in it.

Deal with it fairly, and deal with it early.

Most staffing problems are cheaper to put right the sooner a consultant is involved.

  • Sickness absence, poor performance and conduct, with your managers coached through every step.
  • Grievance and disciplinary procedures drafted, supported and recorded properly.
  • Mediation when a conflict needs an independent, impartial voice.
  • Mental Health First Aiders on hand when wellbeing is part of the picture.

On the team for this: Chrissey Pollen MCIPD Holds an LLM in Employment Law and cares about fair, transparent employee relations.

All our services: HR Services, Engagement and Culture, Talent and Recruitment, Strategy and Development, Organisation and Structure and breatheHR.

What is changing for employers, and when.

The Employment Rights Act 2025 arrives in stages. These are the dates that change what you owe your staff, in plain English.

  1. In force

A new enforcer, the Fair Work Agency.

It brings the enforcement bodies together and can act on rights such as holiday pay and statutory sick pay.

  2. In force

Six months to bring a tribunal claim.

Most claims can now be brought up to six months after the event, up from three. Problems that began earlier can still run on three.

  3. Coming up

    All reasonable steps against harassment.

Employers must take “all reasonable steps” to prevent sexual harassment, including by customers and other third parties. Union access rules change the same day.

  4. Coming up

Unfair dismissal after six months, not two years.

The compensation cap is removed, and dismissing then rehiring someone on worse terms becomes automatically unfair in most cases.

Questions employers ask us.

How much does outsourced HR support cost?

It depends on how you choose to work with us. You can pay as you go for ad hoc support at an hourly rate, commission a one-off project around a specific goal, or agree an annual retained service. We discuss the best package with you once we know the size of your team and what you need, so there is no one-size price list. The first 30 minutes with a senior HR advisor are free, and it is a good place to talk through the options before you commit to anything.

Can you help a very small business?

Yes. We help employers with one employee or one thousand. A small team might start with a one-off project, such as contracts and a staff handbook before a first hire, or call us for advice when a difficult situation comes up. As a business grows, the same consultant can stay alongside it: UKCS grew from 2 people to over 50 staff with our support over six years.

We have a staffing problem right now. Can you help?

Yes. Call 01473 653000 and tell us what has happened so far. Our consultants coach managers through sickness absence, poor performance, conduct and grievance procedures, draft and support disciplinary processes, and can attend meetings with you, including redundancy meetings. Where a conflict needs an independent voice, we offer mediation. The sooner you call, the more options you have, and the cheaper most problems are to put right.

What is a retained HR service, and do I need one?

A retained service is an annual agreement that keeps a consultant alongside your business, so you are not starting from scratch each time something comes up. Marks & Mann, for example, hear from their consultant once a week and can call whenever something unexpected happens. You do not need one to work with us. You can start with ad hoc support or a one-off project, and we will talk through which option fits on the free call.

Are your consultants properly qualified?

Yes. Four of the seven consultants on our team page are Fellows of the CIPD. The others hold CIPD membership at Associate or Member level, or an MSc in human resource management, and one has an LLM in employment law. Our directors are also accredited DISC practitioners, so we can use personality profiling in recruitment, coaching and team development when it helps.

What is BreatheHR, and do I need it?

BreatheHR is a cloud-based HR system built for small and medium-sized businesses. It keeps employee records in one place, handles holiday booking and absence tracking, and sends reminders for key dates, with reporting to help you spot patterns. PS Human Resources is a Breathe Certified Partner: we set the system up, train you and your managers, and support you afterwards. Ask for a free demo and trial before you decide.

Do you only work in Suffolk?

We are based in Nacton, near Ipswich, and work with employers across Suffolk and around the UK. Our consultants work on site or remotely, depending on what suits you. Our clients include logistics and transport businesses, finance and IT companies, engineers, marketing agencies, estate agents and charities. Wherever you are, the first step is the same: a free 30-minute conversation.

What happens in the free 30-minute consultation?

You speak with a senior HR advisor about what is happening in your business and what you want to achieve. It is a chance to explain the situation, ask questions and hear how we could help, at no cost to you. Choose a morning or afternoon on the booking form, or call 01473 653000 if you would rather talk it through straight away.

Book your free 30-minute call.

Tell us what it is about and when suits you. We will get right back to you.

P.S. If something is already going wrong, ring us rather than filling in a form. A phone call is quicker.
