Fire alarms, intruder alarms, CCTV and access controlFire and security Essex, London, and the South East

Fire and security that stays compliant.

One NSI Gold team designs, installs and maintains every system in your commercial building, and keeps the certificates your insurer, auditor and fire risk assessor ask for.

  • NSI Gold for all four systems: security since 2012, fire since 2015
  • Engineers screened to BS 7858 and DBS checked
  • Designed to work together, so escape doors unlock when the fire alarm sounds
  • One-year guarantee on new installations, call-outs included

Lines open 24/7, with an out-of-hours emergency line for faults.

One contract instead of four

In many buildings the fire alarm, intruder alarm, cameras and door access are looked after by different companies. Here is what changes when one certified team owns all of it.

Taking the risk out

  • No-obligation survey. You see our written proposal before you commit to anything.
  • One-year guarantee. On new installations, parts, repairs and call-outs are free for a year after handover.
  • Every certificate checkable. Our NSI and BAFE approvals are on the public registers.

How it works

  1. Survey. An engineer walks the building with you and records every panel, detector, camera and lock.
  2. Proposal. You get it in writing: what we recommend for each system, how they should work together, and the cost.
  3. Install or take over. We fit or take on your systems, sign off the certificates and put every visit on one plan.

Questions we’re asked

How much does a fire alarm or security system cost?

It depends on the building, so every price comes from a survey and a written quote, and the survey carries no obligation. The size of the building, the number of devices, how the systems connect and the standard each one has to meet all move the price. Maintenance is priced as an annual contract. For maintained customers, our published terms set call-outs at £125 for travel and the first hour, then £60 for each further hour, with higher rates out of hours and at weekends.

How quickly can you start?

We call you back to arrange a survey, then send a written proposal and quote after the visit; the timings are on our what-happens-next list. Installation and maintenance visits happen in normal working hours, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, unless we agree other times with you. For a fault, call 01268 560500: our lines are open 24/7 and there is an out-of-hours emergency line.

Do you cover London as well as Essex?

Yes. We work across London, Essex and the South East from our base in Battlesbridge, near Wickford, for single buildings and for organisations with sites in several places. Intruder alarms on multi-site estates can be managed and reported on remotely over a secure IP connection, and with Brivo's cloud access control every door on every site runs from one dashboard. Tell us where your buildings are when you book a survey.

What guarantee do we get?

New installations come with a one-year guarantee: for a year from handover we replace or repair parts and put right faults free of charge, call-outs included, under our published terms. After that, a maintenance contract keeps the systems serviced to the applicable standards. Our work is also backed by £10m of public liability and £5m of professional indemnity insurance, which covers the design work we sign off.

Can you take over a system another company installed?

Usually, yes. We regularly audit and improve systems that other companies installed. It starts with a survey: an engineer tests and records what is there, checks it against the current standards and tells you what is compliant, what is due and what needs fixing. Some panels are locked to their original installer by an access code or proprietary software. If yours is, we tell you at the survey and set out the options, including what an upgrade would cost.

What do NSI Gold and BAFE SP203-1 mean?

They are independent checks that the company doing the work is competent. NSI Gold means the National Security Inspectorate audits our design, installation and maintenance work and our quality system (ISO 9001); we hold it for intruder alarms, CCTV and access control (NACOSS Gold, since 2012) and for fire detection and alarm systems (Fire Gold, since 2015). BAFE SP203-1 is the fire industry's register of certificated fire alarm companies; we are registered organisation 301687. Both are on public registers you can check.

How often does a commercial fire alarm need servicing?

BS 5839-1:2025 recommends servicing by a competent person every six months, with each visit between five and seven months after the last. In between, someone on site should test one manual call point every week, a different one each time, and record it in the log book. The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 makes the building's responsible person accountable for keeping the system maintained, which is why we book every visit on a fixed plan.

Will the fire brigade come if our automatic fire alarm goes off?

Not always. Essex County Fire and Rescue Service does not send an emergency response to calls from automatic fire alarms unless a 999 call confirms a fire or the building has an exemption. In London, since 29 October 2024 the brigade has not attended automatic fire alarms between 7am and 8.30pm unless a fire is confirmed, with exemptions that include homes, hospitals, care homes, hotels, student accommodation, schools and listed buildings. Your fire alarm therefore needs to reach a person who can check and call 999 quickly.
