How it works

Most problems are fixed before you notice them

Our monitoring watches your systems 24 hours a day. When something goes wrong that has a known fix, the system applies it automatically. We call it self-healing.

  • 24/7 monitoring of your devices, servers, backups and network
  • 93% of problems fixed without anyone needing to visit
  • 1 phone number for everything, however small

The same problem, two ways

At 2am, the main server starts running out of disk space.

12:00

With ICO

  1. Monitoring spots the disk filling up.

  2. Self-healing clears out old update files. The space is back.

  3. The fix is checked and logged. Nobody needs waking up.

  4. Your team logs in. Everything just works.

  5. Your account manager plans extra storage before it’s needed.

Time your team lost None

Without proactive support

  1. The disk fills up. Nobody knows.

  2. Nobody can save their work, and the accounts system won’t open.

  3. You ring your IT company and wait for a call back.

  4. An engineer arrives and clears space by hand.

  5. Back to work. Half a morning gone, and it will happen again.

About us

Owner-run in Ipswich since 1995

Geoff Rich started the company in February 1995, six months before Windows 95 went on sale. Thirty-one years on, ICO is still independent, still on Dunlop Road and still run by the person who founded it.

More and more IT firms are being bought by national groups. ICO hasn’t been, so decisions about your support are made here, by people who know your business and answer for it.

ICO is older than

  • Windows 95
  • Google
  • the iMac

  5. 2017

  6. 2020

FAQs

Questions we’re often asked

Anything else, ask us. Call 01473 211330 or email the team.

What does self-healing IT actually mean?

Lots of everyday faults have a known fix: a stopped service, a full disk, a stuck print queue. Our monitoring spots them as they happen and applies the fix automatically, often overnight.

An engineer still reviews what happened, and anything the system can’t fix goes straight to a person.

Do you really watch our systems 24/7?

Yes. Our Network Operations Centre monitors your devices, servers, backups and network around the clock, every day of the year.

Our office on Dunlop Road is open Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:30pm, for calls and visits.

We already have someone who looks after our IT. Can you work alongside them?

Yes. Cofco International has its own IT team, and we add specialist skills and cover where they need it. Plenty of businesses use us for the parts their own person doesn’t have time for.

How much does IT support cost?

It depends on how many people and devices you have, and what you want us to look after. After your free IT Health Check we’ll recommend a plan and give you a clear written quote, with no obligation.

Will you come to our office?

Yes. Most problems are fixed remotely, quickly and with nothing to install, but our engineers come on site whenever it needs a person.

Which areas do you cover?

We’re based on Dunlop Road in Ipswich and look after businesses across Suffolk, Norfolk, Essex, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire, from Great Yarmouth to St Albans.

How do we switch from our current IT company?

We handle the handover. We start with a free IT Health Check, sort anything urgent in a Fit for Business Check, then switch on monitoring. We work around you, often out of hours, so nobody’s day is disrupted.

Can you help with Microsoft 365 licences?

Yes. We set up and look after Microsoft 365, and can often supply licences for less than buying direct from Microsoft. We’ll also check you aren’t paying for licences nobody uses.

What happens if we lose our server, or our office?

Our disaster recovery service keeps copies of your systems in a second location. If the worst happens, our aim is to have you working again within 24 hours, with automatic failover for systems that can’t stop.
