From white collar to world champion.

About ten years ago, an Ipswich recruitment consultant walked into Suffolk Punch and asked head coach Rob Hodgins if he could try it out. No amateur fights. No boxing background.

Four white-collar fights later, Fabio Wardley turned pro. He went on to become English, British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion. In 2025, he became WBO heavyweight champion of the world, coached from his very first session by Rob.

“We fell in love with him straight away.”

The bits people worry about

  • “I’m not fit enough.” You don’t need to be fit to start. Every workout is scaled to you.
  • “I don’t want to get punched.” You never have to punch anyone, or get punched. Sparring is optional and only with your coach’s say-so.
  • “I’ve got an injury.” Our coaches will adapt your training around a knock. Check with your GP or physio first.
  • “Everyone will be younger and fitter.” All ages, shapes and sizes train side by side here, and everyone gets cheered on.

4 stone

lost through charity boxing

“The charity boxing match… not only helped me get fit in the first place but also built confidence… 18 months of hard training I had hit the 4 stone mark. I don’t think I could ever go back to being how I was, because I didn’t feel a normal gym could motivate me as much as the coaches at GFP and Suffolk Punch.”

Simon Miller Suffolk Punch member
Two GFP members laughing mid-workout

“Like many people I have been to the usual type of gym… people would go along, plug themselves into their headphones, and keep themselves to themselves. At GFP the people, coaches, and sense of community spirit is just brilliant. It’s like one big family.”

Liane Quinney

“Wonderful atmosphere, brilliant coaching and a wide range of ages and abilities all mixing in and supporting each other. I’m proud to be one of the oldest crossfitters in town.”

Kate Buckman

“I find it a great way to start the day before work, train in my lunch hour or after work… I started boxing because my son wanted to try it.”

Ant Birt OPT Services

“The staff are incredible and truly care about your journey to being the best you… Made some awesome friends, and can feel myself getting stronger and braver.”

Emma Holmes

“Great gym, great trainers, great people. I enjoy every session of CrossFit.”

Charity boxing

Twelve weeks. One fight night.

Complete beginners. A full training camp. Then you walk out at Trinity Park in front of family, friends and a crowd of around 600, and box for a cause close to your heart.

Our charity boxers train in regular classes plus their own weekly session with extra coach time. Safety comes first: full medicals, matched opponents and 16oz gloves on every bout. Everyone’s got work on Monday.

It started in April 2014, when GFP owner Matt Brennan boxed ten rounds against ten opponents and raised over £10,000. Our Prospect Promotions shows have since put hundreds of boxers in the ring and raised more than £50,000 for charity.

FAQs

Questions? Answered.

Can’t see yours? Message us and a coach will get back to you.

Do I need to be fit to start?

No. Every workout is scaled to your fitness and skill level, so even if you don’t think you’re fit enough to train, you are. Most people start with CrossFit Foundations, Beginner Boxing or Thump Boxing.

Will I have to spar or get hit?

Only if you want to. You never have to punch anyone, or get punched. Thump Boxing is pad-based boxing fitness, and sparring is only for boxers who have their coach’s permission.

What’s included in the free trial?

14 sessions to use in 14 days, including Beginner Boxing, Thump Boxing, Junior Boxing, CrossFit Foundations, Olympic Lifting and Hyrox. Some daytime CrossFit and mixed boxing classes are included too. If you can’t book one, email gym@grangefitness.com.

How much does membership cost?

Drop in for £12 a class or buy a 10-class pass for £105. Memberships start at £70 a month for two sessions a week, or £100 a month for unlimited classes on a 12-month membership (£125 rolling). Open gym starts at £30 a month.

Do you offer discounts?

Yes. There’s 10% off memberships for the NHS, police, fire service and Army, and 20% off for students. Ask about our monthly membership offer before you buy.

How old do you have to be?

Kids’ boxing starts at five: Mini Rockets (5–8), Rocky Rockets (9–11) and Junior Boxing (12–16). Adult boxing, CrossFit and our other classes are for ages 16 and up.

I have an injury. Can I still train?

Staying active usually helps, and our coaches can adapt your sessions around a knock. Always check with your GP or physio first.

What is open gym?

Time to train on your own with all of our equipment, from punchbags to barbells: 6am–9pm on weekdays and 7am–2pm at weekends. If you’re new to training, we recommend at least 10 classes first.

Can I compete?

Yes. Beginners over 18 can box a charity bout on our Prospect Promotions shows after a 12-week camp, and experienced boxers can be matched against boxers from other gyms. Juniors can progress to amateur (ABA) boxing.

Do you do personal training?

Yes: one-to-one personal training (bring a friend if you like), private boxing coaching and private Olympic lifting coaching in our dedicated PT area, plus sports massage.
