Why Flexitrans

Big-network reach. Small-firm care.

Flexitrans was set up in 2005 to give customers the personal service that’s so often missing at the big corporates, without giving up their reach. Twenty-one years on, that’s still the deal.

  1. Independent, so the route fits the load

We’re not tied to one haulier or shipping line. We weigh up every option with long-standing, trusted partners and offer the safest, most cost-effective one for your consignment.

  2. Decades of experience behind every quote

Our two directors have more than 60 years in freight between them. That know-how goes into every route we plan and every price we give: the routes, the paperwork and the pitfalls.

  3. Kept informed, start to finish

Collection time, trailer number, confirmation of uplift and shipment, right through to the moment of delivery. You won’t need to chase us.

  4. On the doorstep of the UK’s busiest container port

Felixstowe based, with warehouse and customs clearance facilities to hand, and agents around the world through GAA, part of the WCA network.

Groupage

Under 3 loading metres, sharing a trailer is usually the most economical way to move it.

Quote this load

A guide, not a quote. It assumes standard pallets on the floor of a 13.6 m trailer, which takes 33 Euro or 26 UK pallets. Height, weight and stacking all change the picture, so we’ll confirm the best option when we quote.

How it works

Three steps. One point of contact.

  1. 1

    Tell us about the load

What it is, where from, where to and when. Rough sizes are fine to start with.

  2. 2

    We find the right route

Groupage, part or full load, express, sea or abnormal. We weigh up cost, timing and risk, then come back with a clear price.

  3. 3

    We keep you posted

Collection time, trailer number, uplift and shipment confirmed, right through to delivery.

Twenty-one years of bending over backwards.

Jim and Jamie first worked together in 1991. In 2005, with office space from a good friend, they went it alone, and on Tuesday 2 May Flexitrans began trading. The name was short for flexible transport, because they’d bend over backwards for every customer.

Ed joined a year later to build our worldwide deep sea division. Jim retired in March 2026, Jamie became Managing Director and Ed joined him as a Director. The promise hasn’t changed.

FAQs

Good to know before you book.

Still not sure? Call 01394 458800 and talk it through with a forwarder.

What’s the difference between groupage, a part load and a full load?

Groupage shares a trailer with other customers’ freight, so you only pay for the space you use. A part load is collected and delivered direct by the trailer, without going through a depot, and over about 3 loading metres it’s often the cheaper choice. A full load is the whole 13.6 m trailer, dedicated to you.

What is a loading metre?

A metre of trailer floor, measured along its length. A standard 13.6 m trailer takes 33 Euro pallets or 26 UK pallets on the floor. Try the load planner for a quick estimate.

Do you handle imports as well as exports?

Yes. We move freight into the UK as well as out of it, by road from across Europe and by sea from most destinations worldwide.

Can you help with customs?

Yes. We have warehouse and customs clearance facilities available, and we’ll talk you through what your shipment needs before it moves.

Can you move dangerous goods?

Tell us when you enquire. Our team includes a qualified Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser, who can advise on hazardous cargo moving by road.

Do you move household goods or personal effects?

No. We’re a commercial freight forwarder, so we don’t arrange moves of personal effects or household furniture. We also don’t carry foodstuffs or goods subject to sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) controls.

Are you a courier?

No, we don’t deliver parcels. If a company calling itself ‘Pace Cargo Delivery’ has told you to contact us about a delivery, please be aware that we have no association with it.

How do I get a price?

Use the quote form, email sales@flexitrans.co.uk or call 01394 458800. Sizes, weights, addresses and dates help us quote accurately, but a rough idea is enough to start.
