What Holds It Up
Timber Rots From the Inside. So We Never Use It.
A deck is built to let rain drain through it, so a timber frame gets wet. The sun can’t reach underneath to dry it out, posts soak water up through their end grain, and timber boxed in behind PVC sweats. You don’t see the rot until the deck starts to move.
Every AB Sundeck stands on a galvanised steel frame we form ourselves, fixed with stainless steel screws sealed by neoprene washers, with the fixings hidden. The frame won’t rot, warp or burn, and because it bolts together it can be extended or moved later.
Under a finished lodge deck: galvanised joists and bearers, no timber anywhere.

How Much Does Static Caravan Decking Cost?
It depends on the size and height of the deck, the boards and handrail you choose and how you get on to it, so every AB Sundeck is priced from your measurements or one of our standard designs.

Will My Park Let Me Have a Deck?
Most parks ask you to get approval first, and many set rules on size, materials, colours and the space between homes. Send us your park’s rules with your enquiry and we’ll design to them.
Can You Build on a Slope, Over Water or Round a Tree?
Yes. The steel frame stands on adjustable legs, so we build decks down sloping gardens, out over lakes and round established trees. You can see some of them above.
Can I Extend or Move My Deck Later?
Yes. An AB Sundeck bolts together on a steel frame, so we can add to it, change its shape, or take it down and fit it again, for example when you change your holiday home.
Is It Slippery When Wet?
Our boards have a slip-resistant grain that grips underfoot. Like any outdoor surface, keep it clear of leaves and algae, with a wash in spring and autumn.
How Do I Look After It?
Hose it down, then wash it with warm soapy water and a soft brush, ideally in spring and autumn. There’s no sanding, staining, painting or oiling. Avoid bleach, acids and solvents, and keep pressure washers on a wide fan setting.
Do You Fit, or Supply Only?
Both. Our own employed fitters install decks anywhere in the UK, or we can supply only, for parks and trade customers with their own teams.
Do I Need Planning Permission for a Garden Deck?
Usually not, if the deck is no more than 30 cm above the ground and, together with extensions and outbuildings, covers no more than half the garden. Higher decks, listed buildings and some protected areas need permission, so check the Planning Portal (opens in a new tab) or ask your council.
What Does the 10 Year Guarantee Cover?
It’s a structural guarantee on the deck’s frame and how it’s built. We’ll set out the full terms with your quote.
